    Welcome to the KidsFest Summer Camp! We are so excited about this year’s camp, which will be held for kids ages 3-11 at Chapel Hill Bible Church on June 19-23 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. each day. This year’s camp will feature an exciting detective theme as we help kids solve the world’s greatest mystery: The answer to the question, “What is the true meaning of life?”

    Our theme verse this year is 1 Corinthians 10:31, which says, “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” We are prayerfully expecting our glorious God to do great things in the lives of everyone involved in camp this year.

    This Year's Theme

    A Fabulous Detective Mystery

    Cue the film noir soundtrack, grab your magnifying glasses, and get ready for a fabulous detective mystery at KidsFest! After last year’s superhero-sized success, Chapel Hill Bible Church’s annual summer camp is back with two, ahem, ace gumshoes who are on the case as they take kids on a fun, gospel-filled journey to solve the world’s greatest mystery—answering the question, “What is the true meaning of life?”

    KidsFest is sure to create wonderful, lasting memories for your child!

      Camp will feature a large-scale stage production, great teaching, awesome worship music, hilarious skits and videos, exciting games, fun classroom activities, and much more—all designed to help your child learn about God’s perfect plan of salvation through Jesus Christ as revealed in Scripture. Our original curriculum is geared to help each boy and girl gain a greater understanding of how great God is and how much he loves them. No matter what your child’s interests are, there's something for everyone to enjoy at KidsFest!

      Biblical Truths to Explore

      Here are the biblical truths kids will explore at camp this year:

         

        • Day 1 — Who created us? God (Genesis 1:27)
        • Day 2 — What separates us from God? Sin (Romans 3:23)
        • Day 3 — Who came to earth to make us right with God? Jesus (Romans 5:1)
        • Day 4 — How can we be saved? Repent and trust in Jesus (Mark 1:15)
        • Day 5 — What’s the true meaning of life? To worship and glorify God (1 Corinthians 10:31)

        Daily Schedule & Cost

        KIDSFEST will be held on Monday-Friday, June 19-23. Camp will run from 9a to 12p each day that week.

          The total cost for one child’s weeklong camp registration is $25.

          Child Safety

          The physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing of every camper is our highest priority.

            That’s why we are committed to the following child safety standards:

            • Volunteer screening — Every volunteer (both adults and teenagers) will go through a thorough screening process, including a volunteer application and (for adults) a national criminal background check.
            • Security team — A security team will be on hand to provide an extra set of eyes and to ensure that Chapel Hill Bible Church’s child protection policies are being followed throughout our campus.
            • Medical supervision — A medically qualified individual will be present every day to attend to children who get injured or sick.
            • Child check-in/pickup system — Our automated child check-in/pickup system will ensure that the only person who can pick up a child from camp each day is their authorized parent/guardian, as confirmed by a pickup ticket that uniquely matches the child’s name tag.

            Registration & Age Info

            Registration is currently open! To register your child, click here. Registration will remain open until June 18.

              Camp is open to kids ages 3-11. Children on either end of that age range must be either 3 or 11 by the time camp starts to attend. For planning purposes and other programmatic reasons, we cannot accept 2-year-olds who will turn 3 after camp or children who turned 12 shortly before camp started. Thanks for your understanding. We are thrilled that so many kids want to attend KidsFest!

              Special Needs Friendly

              KidsFest is for children of all abilities.

                Chapel Hill Bible Church seeks to foster an environment of inclusion for children of all abilities. This year, we are offering a buddy system during KidsFest for those with special needs who may need a little more support to participate in camp as their typically developing peers. Our buddies are youth workers who will assisting our other camp volunteers and keeping an
                extra eye on the child who needs support to ensure they have a successful week. We do reserve the right not to provide a buddy if the child doesn’t need one or if we are unable provide one due to staffing limitations.

                Games

                Our games crew works hard to put together a super-fun and age-appropriate variety of outdoor games that the kids will enjoy every day. They involve running and often include water.

                  We also believe game time offers a context for each child to exhibit what they’re learning at camp and grow in godly character. Each day, camp volunteers will nominate children for awards based on their demonstration of various biblical character traits. Stories of these moments are shared from the stage throughout the week, further inspiring the kids to grow spiritually. We want to celebrate what pleases the Lord!

                  Classroom Time

                  We understand the importance of smaller, more relational contexts for children to enjoy.

                    While wowing the kids with the Gospel on a grand scale in the auditorium is one of the highlights of KidsFest, we also understand the importance of smaller, more relational contexts for children to enjoy. That’s why each camp day will feature classroom time, when kids will interact with their peers and volunteer leaders in a quieter setting to review the day’s lesson through a variety of fun activities, crafts and discussions.

                    Dress

                    Please dress your children suitably for hot weather and the amount of physical activity they will experience each day.

                      A t-shirt, shorts and athletic shoes are a good idea. Please make sure your child does not wear articles of clothing with inappropriate messages or graphics on them. We ask that girls dress modestly and wear normal-length shorts and shirts that do not reveal any midriff, etc.

                       

                      Also, please note that some of our games might involve the kids getting wet with water balloons, sponges, etc.

                      Volunteers Needed!

                      KidsFest requires a small army of loving, dedicated adult and teenage volunteers!

                        If you are a member of Chapel Hill Bible Church or someone who has been faithfully attending our church for at least six months, we would love to have your help with camp.

                        Thank you for your interest in serving with KidsFest. Serving with KidsFest is a great Gospel opportunity and a wonderful way to fulfill Psalm 78:4: “Tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might, and the wonders that he has done.” Below is info on camp and a list of available volunteer positions.                         Head Coach (25-30 needed)

                        June 19-23, 7a - 12:30p daily + pre-camp training

                        Oversee a particular age-group team of kids and lead them in all activities

                        Assistant Coach (25-30 needed)

                        June 19-23, 7a - 12:30p daily + pre-camp training

                        Assist the head coach in overseeing a team of kids and leading them in all activities

                        Camper's Buddy (10-15)

                        June 19-23, 7a-12:30p daily + precamp training

                        Assist a child with special needs as needed on a particular age-group team of kids.

                        We've provided answers to some common questions below. If you don't find the answer you're looking for here, please feel free to contact Jordan Murdock, the KidsFest Camp Coordinator.

                         

                        What will child check-in look like each day?

                         

                        On Monday, June 19, you may bring your child to the main lobby as early as 8:15a. Because it will be the first day, please add extra time for check-in and expect a potentially longer wait in line than normal. Volunteers will be on hand to assist you at our automated check-in stations, where each child will receive a name tag to put on their clothing, and parents will receive a daily pickup ticket. NOTE: For security purposes, the child name tag and parent pickup ticket have a matching security code that is randomly generated daily. In other words, the pickup ticket that worked to pick up your child on Monday will not be valid on any other day, etc.

                        Tuesday through Friday, the main lobby will open at 8:30a, and you will still need to check in your child to receive the daily name tag and pickup ticket.

                         

                        Each day's program begins at 9a in the auditorium, which is adjacent to the main lobby.

                        When do I pick up my child from camp?

                        Please plan to pick up your child promptly at 12p at the auditorium each day. For security reasons, there will be only one clearly marked point of entry into the auditorium where you must present your pickup ticket to enter. The safekeeping of a pickup ticket is the responsibility of each child’s parent/guardian. If you lose your pickup ticket, you will need to go to the Help Desk (located in the main lobby) and present your driver’s license or another valid form of ID that matches the name of the parent/guardian listed in our registration records to request a temporary pickup ticket. No child will be released without a valid pickup ticket that matches their child’s name tag. For child safety reasons, there are no exceptions to this policy.

                         

                        If you need to pick up your child early, please go to the Help Desk and be prepared to show your pickup ticket. Your child will be brought there and officially signed out to you upon identity confirmation through the name tag/pickup ticket system.

                        Can I have someone else pick up my child from camp?

                         

                        Yes, but they must have the proper identification with them. This can be done in one of several ways:

                        1. The most ideal option is for you to give your pickup ticket that matches your child’s name tag to the individual picking up your child so that they can present it upon their arrival. The safe transfer of a pickup ticket to a proxy is the responsibility of each child’s parent/guardian.
                        2. You can take a photo of the pickup ticket on your smartphone and text it to the individual picking up your child so that they can show a photo of the ticket—and the confirmation that the text message came from you, the parent/guardian—upon their arrival. If you choose this option, please make sure to take a photo of the entire pickup ticket. If any vital information on the ticket cannot be clearly verified on the pickup individual’s phone, we will not release the child to the proxy.
                        3. If neither of the above options are possible, you can leave your child’s pickup ticket with our Help Desk staff and give us the full name of the individual who will be picking up your child. We will write the proxy’s name on the pickup ticket and keep it stored safely at camp until pickup time. At that time, we will ask for a valid photo ID from the proxy to confirm their identity before giving the pickup ticket to them.

                        If someone comes to pick up your child and does not meet one of the criteria listed above, we will keep your child in our care and contact you at the phone number(s) supplied to us during the registration process to find a solution to safely return the child to you. This might require you to change your plans and pick up the child yourself.

                        What should my child bring to camp?

                        The kids will participate in active outdoor games during the week. They should wear comfortable shirts, shorts and athletic shoes.

                         

                        Children should not bring items that they need to carry (e.g. bags, purses, iPods, video games, etc.) since they will be distractions and could very easily become lost during the course of the morning. The KidsFest staff and Chapel Hill Bible Church assume no liability for any child’s lost personal items. If your child needs to have an item with them for medical reasons (e.g. EpiPen), you can check these items into the medical station in the morning (see below).

                        Is this a special needs-friendly camp?

                        Yes, Chapel Hill Bible Church seeks to foster an environment of inclusion for children of all abilities. During the registration process, we will ask you to fill out a brief intake form in order for us to understand your child’s needs better.

                        Do you have a medical station on the premises?

                        Yes, each day there will be a certified medical professional onsite to treat any injuries or illnesses. The medical station will be located in the library, which is adjacent to the main lobby.

                        Are parents allowed to stay and watch?

                        We welcome parents to watch their kids participate in the camp. For safety reasons, we ask that you have your child pickup ticket with you at all times. If one of our security staff asks you to present your pickup ticket and you do not have it, we will ask you to go to the Help Desk and have a new ticket issued (with the proper identification), or leave the property.

                         

                        If you are interested in watching the stage production portion of camp in the auditorium, you will be asked to present your pickup ticket at the entrance door. We ask that you watch the program from the parent seating section in the back of the auditorium and let your child remain with his/her camp group. This is critical in helping us maintain order during the program and helping our volunteers keep proper oversight and headcount of their teams.
